III:TEXT.6 BEGINS SEPTEMBER!

Participants from all over the US, the Bahamas, and New Zealand were involved in III:TEXT.5 exploring the issue of transformation.  While the last module focused on the human text, III:TEXT.6 will focus on Cultural Context and Ministry Implications. As ministry leaders you are called to be semioticians, readers of the signs of the times.  What is happening in the culture that you need to be aware of and how can you guide people in these uncertain times with eyes that see what God is doing in the present moment.

III:TEXT.6 will begin in September '09 and runs through December '09 with an In Real Life Meeting in January 2010.  Throughout the three months there will be monthly video conferencing, both with Ron and authors of the texts that we will be studying. 

As a participant of III:TEXT you will be a part of a group of people from all over the world will meet online both on a daily chatboard and in a live video conference space.  The module culminates in an In Real Life Meeting.

the III:TEXTs

I. BIBLICAL TEXT - Understand the elegant sweep of the story it tells. Engage the broader brush strokes of the biblical narrative so together we become better equipped to invite others to allow God's story to shape and intersect theirs.

II. CONTEXT- Become semioticians; readers of the signs of the times. Grapple with the questions that are a part of the cultural container in which we have been invited to bring the news flash of the message of Jesus.

III. HUMAN TEXT - Delve into the human text of personal and collective narration. What is your story? What is our story? What are people telling themselves these days?.  What are personal development issues, heart passions, spiritual practices? What issues, hurts and pains do we face and what does that mean to how we translate the message of the news flash Jesus came to announce?

Details:  Your syllabus will include a reading list of articles. It will be your responsibility to secure the texts prior to the start of the module.  Participants will need to read resources according to the schedule provided. These texts include some of the most recent publications as well as very obscure publications.  Your syllabus will include a password to enable you to enter a password protected chat zone at this velocityculture website for online dialogue. The module culminates in an In Real Life Meeting in January of 2010.
